6 Interesting Cleaning Uses for Vinegar

If you’re like most people, you probably have a dusty old bottle of white vinegar sitting at the bottom of one of your kitchen cabinets or the back of your office fridge. Though most people know that vinegar is a common ingredient in the kitchen, many aren’t aware that it also has a wide range of cleaning uses as well. If you are dealing with any of these common residential or commercial cleaning woes, consider grabbing a bottle of vinegar for a green, affordable, and natural solution!

Dirty blinds. If you have washable blinds in your home or office, mix one cup of ammonia, ½ cup of white distilled vinegar, 1/4th cup of baking soda and a gallon of warm water into a large basin, then grab a sponge or rag. Dip the sponge or rag into the mixture, wipe down your blinds, and then rinse them with warm water for a clean finish!
Dusty window sills. Have you noticed that your window sills are accumulating dirt and grime? Mix equal parts vinegar and water and wipe them down with a sponge!
An oily coffee machine. Commercial cleaning companies in PA know that office coffee machines don’t always get the sanitation attention they need. To clean out your machine, fill the reservoir with white vinegar and run a full cycle. Dump out the leftover vinegar if there is any and run two cycles with water.
Fruit-stained hands. Hands looking red or blue after chopping up a fruit salad? Rinse your hands with vinegar to remove the stains!
A grimy microwave. The food residue that dries on the interior of your microwave can be hard to scrub away. Boil a mixture of 1/4th cup vinegar and 1 cup of water in the microwave until steam forms on top of the bowl. You’ll find that the softened residue is much easier to wipe away!
Tarnished drawer pulls and handles. Looking for a more natural way to remove tarnish? Create a mixture of 1 tablespoon of salt, ½ cup of vinegar, and a bit of flour to form a paste. Apply the paste to the metal and allow it to sit for 15 minutes. Rinse with clean water and polish with a dry, soft cloth for newer looking metal.
